So I’m starting a new job at a restaurant, since all of my piano students have decided to become world travelers this summer. It’s a bummer, really. I kind of thought I was done working in the food industry, but alas, here I am again. Anyway, the restaurant opens in one week, which means that the only way to get hours right now is to go in and basically scrub the whole place from top to bottom.
…. It sucks!
After yesterday, I was sore, my nails were shot, and I was just plain stinky. I decided that instead of going back there, I’d just spend less money until I can actually wait tables. Yes, waiting tables is the luxurious option at this point.
Here’s my first tip for saving money- DO YOUR GROCERY SHOPPING AT MOM AND DAD’S HOUSE!! So far, they think this is cute, but I’ll let you know how long that lasts.
The thing is, I just really enjoy cooking. Yesterday, I only needed a can of tomatoes to complete my pasta dish. Today, however, I need white pepper and tarragon before I can master the perfect bearnaise sauce. And, well, meat and vegetables to go along with the sauce.
We’ll see what they say when they notice most of their groceries have disappeared.
